Come join us at our Open House to learn more about how your all volunteer Fire Department and EMS services. We will have live demonstrations, as well as food, drink and a live band to make your day an enjoyable and informative one. NO TICKETS REQUIRED, JUST SHOW UP!

About the event
In celebration of Fire Prevention Week, the St. James Fire Department will host an Open House at Fire Station #1 on Saturday, October 2 from 10am-2pm.Join us for a day of fun, music, food, and most importantly, finding out more about your fire department. There will be live demonstrations regarding proper use of fire extinguishers, along with simulating the extinguishing of a small kitchen fire, brush and car fires. We will also demonstrate 'jaws of life' vehicle extraction. EMTs will demonstrate CPR and AED techniques as well as provide BGL and blood pressure screenings. The FireWise committee will have a display and presentation. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to participate in a free raffle, where prizes include fire extinguishers, excursions on the 38’ sailboat Endless Summer and a 36’ Tiara Cruiser, gift certificates from local merchants, and experience a ride on a Fire Department truck. All of our fire equipment will be on display. Lastly a local insurance broker will explain proper coverages for your home and how our fire department impacts your homeowner insurance rates.
