The SJ Fire Department authorized the purchase of a UV Air Sanitizer, that is designed to disinfect our ambulances in the event we transport a COVID patient to a hospital. The department received the sanitizer on January 22, and unfortunately it was put to work the same day. Before having our own sanitizing system, it was necessary to bring the ambulance to Bolivia, resulting in additional travel downtime, as well as the time it takes to disinfect the vehicle. Having our own system negates the travel, as well as the wait time for disinfecting other ambulances, if other county ambulances were using the UV system. The sanitizer uses an intense ultraviolet light and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete its work.
